Physics of Plasmas brochure
The winter/spring 2007 brochure for the journal, Physics of Plasmas, published by the American Institute of Physics, featured numerous images from our 2005 paper on hohlraum modeling. All of these images were made using the VisRad view-factor code written by Prism Computational Sciences.
Some of these images are 3-D renderings of halfraums, which are small gold cylinders, into which multiple laser beams are directed. These halfraums thermalize the laser energy, creating a symmetric, Planckian radiation field (characterized by kT ~ 150 to 200 eV). Other images (with circular shapes) are views from the back end of the interior of a halfraum, with the color-coding indicating the temperatures of various surfaces, as calculated by VisRad.
