O VII 21.602, 21.804 Angstroms

Models with isotropic porosity

Note: We fit only the MEG data. There are 225 MEG counts in the spectral region we fit (and plot below). See the fitting log. We fit the resonance and intercombination lines; the forbidden line isn't detected.

Same continuum fit as we used for the non-porous models: n=2, best-fit norm=1.87e-3. The 68% confidence limits on the normalization are +/- 4e-4. And the best fit is formally a good fit.

O VII 21.602, 21.804: isoporous MEG [21.42:22.00], λo = 21.602, 21.804
vinf=2250
β=1
powerlaw continuum, n=2; norm=1.87e-3
q=0
hinf=6.72   +/- (0.00:15.4) and for 90%
      confidence, (0.00:28.9)

taustar=17.0   +/- (0.94:93.9)
uo=0.520   +/- (0.323:0.670)
norm=3.15e-4, 2.81e-4 +/- (2.80e-4:3.52e-4), (2.51e-4:3.19e-4)
rejection probability = 35% (C=206.59; N=230)

Here are the 68%, 90%, and 95% joint confidence limits on hinf and taustar. The asterisk represents the best-fit model, shown as the red histograms on the above plot.

O VII 21.602: joint hinf taustar constraints using MEG data - different plotting range

There are essentially no joint constraints here. Note that more "normal" values of uo possible with porosity.

Next, we fit anisotropic porosity models - we report only the fitting log here.
