O VIII 18.969 Angstroms

Models with anisotropic porosity

Note: We fit only the MEG data. There are 246 MEG counts in the spectral region we fit (and plot below). See the fitting log.

Same continuum fit as we used for the non-porous and isoporous models: n=2, best-fit norm=2.40e-3. The 68% confidence limits on the normalization are +/- 8e-4. And the best fit is formally a good fit. View the spectral region near the line: MEG.

O VIII 18.969: anisoporous MEG [18.80:19.13], λo = 18.969
vinf=2250
β=1
powerlaw continuum, n=2; norm=2.40e-3
q=0
hinf=0.02   +/- (0.00:0.28) and for 90%
      confidence, (0.00:0.63)

taustar=3.04   +/- (2.48:4.01)
uo=0.758   +/- (0.634:0.99)
norm=3.74e-4 +/- (3.44e-4:3.98e-4)
rejection probability = 88% (C=150.83; N=130)

Here are the 68%, 90%, and 95% joint confidence limits on hinf and taustar. The asterisk represents the best-fit model, shown as the red histograms on the above two plots.

O VIII 18.969: joint anisoporous h_inf taustar constraints using MEG data

And here are the joint constraints on taustar and uo:

O VIII 18.969: joint uo taustar constraints using MEG data but with anisoporosity

Compare this to the smaller confidence regions from the non-porous model fitting.
