Comparison of radiation temperatures with and without capsule for simulations of Decker et al. shots

The beam pointing is "nominal" - i.e. 15 Cone 2 and Cone 3 beams on each side of the hohlraum, pointed and focused at the LEH center, thus producing two rings*

No Capsule 135 147 193 207
Capsule 133 147 186 202

Snapshots shown here are DANTE-view at 1 ns.
Capsule has a constant 520 μm diameter and a constant albedo of α=0.3 in these simulations.
Emission temperature color scale is the same for both figures (min=140eV, max=220eV).

Comparison of empty hohlraum and hohlraum with capsule: Dante temperature (two higher curves) and midplane wall-mounted sample radiation temperature (two lower curves).

Radiation temperature vs. time for an empty hohlraum compared to a hohlraum with a capsule, as seen by DANTE (solid line for the empty hohlraum and dotted line for the capsule-filled hohlraum) and the midplane wall-mounted sample (dashed line for the empty hohlraum and dash-dotted line for the capsule-filled hohlraum).

New - October 12, 2004:

The beam pointing is as in Decker et al. - i.e. 15 Cone 2 and Cone 3 beams on each side of the hohlraum, pointed and focused so as to produce a single ring.
